Chinese Calligraphers Brush Pot

Chinese Calligraphers Brush Pot Do you have one of these holding back your door in the wind?

If you do dig it out and get it down to your local auction room this one was found being used as a doorstop in Hertfordshire and was valued at £20,000 to £30,000 if you think that is good, it only gets better!  The auction house was hit by a whirlwind of bidding on the phones and in the auction room, the vendor chose to stay at home and watch on-line to see his doorstop taking the bidding up to £150,000 an amazing life changing amount of money.

The pot, being held in the picture below by Yexue Li, who works in Sworders' Asian art department, is made from a single block of zitan - the rare hardwood largely reserved for use in the Qing Imperial household.

It is intricately carved with dozens of figures in the popular 'hundred boys' subject, a highly auspicious theme in Chinese art intended to inspire the creation of a large and joyous family.

Gun Holsters and NYPD uniform

Gun Holsters and NYPD uniform An amazing week with some unusual finds I have a lot of American gun holsters from the 1960s up to the present day on Ebay, they are mostly military or from the American police force it has been interesting to research before I sold them and I have talked to some very knowledgeable people along the way, the items are all coming of tonight Good Friday 18/4/2014. I am looking forward to the battle with the NYPD uniform and badges, the uniform is unusual because of the different badges it has especially the rifle marksman pin badge of distinction, have a look at our Ebay site 'kcsceramics' to watch the battle commence.
